About the Chef

My Story

I’ve had an entanglement with food over the years. Food has always been my friend.  It was there when I felt alone.  I would go to the fridge and pull something out. Whether it was ice cream, a burger, pizza, or whatever, it would just warm me right up. My dad was a foodie.  He died when I was 11.  He loved to feed people and laugh with people. I still miss him and I’d like to think that if he was alive, we’d be working together bringing our own irresistible flavors to the food industry. Without him, I’m just as motivated because for me love and food come from the same place. 

My mother died when I was 17. I was there when she died and it devastated me. Food then became an unhealthy entanglement for a while, but when I married the love of my life, food was about love once again. I couldn’t cook. I could eat, but I couldn’t cook. Sounds odd, right; a foodie who can’t cook. I learned how to cook to please my husband. I wanted him to love my food as much as he loved his momma’s food. 

My methods of cooking have never been about following recipes. Preparing food is an art. I’ve always been creative. Something about seasoning to taste, choosing consistency and texture whether you’re baking, frying, barbecuing, searing, or steaming food to ultimately place an aesthetically pleasing and delectable dish before my husband gives me joy.

The Next Chapter

As a chef, I know there are no bounds to what can be created in the kitchen. My canvas is a perpetually clean slate and I like it that way. I can take any ingredients and create something pleasing to the eyes and the palate of the people I love. M.A Foods is a creative expression from me. For now, M.A. Sauce is my premier product. There will be more.
